I knew homeopathy was the right discipline, but it was hard to find the right practitioner. I went to several homeopaths in Nova Scotia and Ontario before I finallyfound the one that really helped me: Meryl Cook
Meryl is particularly great with teenagers
About MerylBoth Homeopathy and Bowen aim to restore balance to the body, in that the symptoms you are experiencing are seen as signs of a system that is out of balance. Rather than just treating symptoms and perhaps giving several different treatments for different symptoms, Meryl's approach is to treat the body as a whole and to choose the gentlest, most non-invasive treatment to address you as a whole person.
In her practice, Meryl finds the minimum dose approach (where the body is given a gentle stimulation to begin the healing process) of both Bowen and Classical Homeopathy to be very compatible. She works with people of all ages. She especially enjoys assisting at labour and delivery and working with multi-generational families. As a mother of 3 growing sons, Meryl brings lots of practical experience to her work.
Meryl has had a practice devoted to the Bowen Technique since 1996, and began taking homeopathic patients in March 2001. In March 2003, after 4 years of intensive study, Meryl completed her Practitioner's Diploma of Homeopathy. These studies included 2000 hours of the study of homeopathy, plus anatomy, physiology, pathology and a two year supervised practice with Sheila Ryan, a very experienced homeopath in the U.K.
Since her initial training in the Bowen Technique in 1996, Meryl has had over 450 hours of continuing education, including many classes with Ossie and Elaine Rentsch, who were chosen by Tom Bowen, the originator of the Bowen Technique to teach his technique around the world. Meryl is qualified in Bowen advanced techniques, and recently studied the second level of advanced Bowen training, which was taught in North America for the first time in 2008. Following a rigorous two year process of evaluation, Meryl was certified as a Bowtech instructor in 2003. In order to fully focus on her practice at Pillars of Health, she has stepped aside from teaching Bowen as of January 2009.
Meryl holds an MSc in Applied Clinical & Industrial Psychology (Saint Mary's University) and a PDHom (Practitioner's Diploma of Homeopathy) from the Devon School of Homeopathy in the United Kingdom. Meryl is a registered member of the Maritime Society of Homeopaths and the Canadian Society of Homeopaths, and abides by their code of ethics.
